Echo of the Past

So the recent outrage I keep hearing about is these Bonuses some AIG executives received. Let me first say, I am not outraged. Now that that is out of the way, let me explain why.

While listening to all this outrage from regular folk, to congresspersons, to television personalities, to the President himself, I get this deep feeling of Deja Vu. I am certain i have heard this cry before.

I decided to do some digging, when have I heard the outcries about people not spending the taxpayers money wisely. Then it hit me like a 800 billion ton brick. That's right there were a lot of taxpayers that were outraged that our government would hand out our hard earn money to companies that can't even support themselves.

But that still didn't seem to put an end to my feelings. So I dug deeper. that is when it it hit me like an avalanche. Oh my, people have been complaining for years about the amount of money we as taxpayers give to a government that continues to fail us.

So please people the next time you want to complain about some company that gives a bonus to some idiot that really doesn't deserve it. Look in the mirror and think to yourself. "Is the person I help put in charge, really doing the right things with the money I give them?"

The 912 Project

A new link on my sidebar. The 912 Project

9 Principles

1. America Is Good.

2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.
God “The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the external rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained.” from George Washington’s first Inaugural address.

3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.
Honesty “I hope that I shall always possess firmness and virtue enough to maintain what I consider to be the most enviable of all titles, the character of an honest man.” George Washington

4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.
Marriage/Family “It is in the love of one’s family only that heartfelt happiness is know. By a law of our nature, we cannot be happy without the endearing connections of a family.” Thomas Jefferson

5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.
Justice “I deem one of the essential principles of our government… equal and exact justice to all men of whatever state or persuasion, religious or political.” Thomas Jefferson

6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.
Life, Liberty, & The Pursuit of Happiness “Everyone has a natural right to choose that vocation in life which he thinks most likely to give him comfortable subsistence.” Thomas Jefferson

7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.
Charity “It is not everyone who asketh that deserveth charity; all however, are worth of the inquiry or the deserving may suffer.” George Washington

8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.
On your right to disagree “In a free and republican government, you cannot restrain the voice of the multitude; every man will speak as he thinks, or more properly without thinking.” George Washington

9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.
Who works for whom? “I consider the people who constitute a society or a nation as the source of all authority in that nation.” Thomas Jefferson

I want to help the President

Ok, I have finally heard enough about this wanting the President to fail. So I personally have decided, if I am unable to make attempts to help the President fail, then I should look at what his ultimate goal is and see what I can do help him achieve it.

Ten Thing The President Must Do To Destroy America

1) Increase the size of government as a replacement of the private sector - It is not just good enough to enlarge the government, but you also must shrink the private sector. This can be done by increasing Federal spending to a point above 50% of the Gross Domestic Product.*

2) Remove any and all obligations to follow any rules you set forth and further down the line any rules that have been previously set(also known as Laws).*

3) Begin to remove any possibility of alternative forms of education. i.e. Private and Home Schooling. To allow the populace into the non-education, forced indoctrination of the government controlled public schooling.*

4) With a great number of Americans that still believe we have enemies and allies, it is important to assure that those enemies will be appeased, at the least, if not also rewarded. While at the same time, insult and hold our allies in contempt.*

5) Make it less attractive and harder to be Charitable. The greatest attribute of Americans is our propensity to give. You take that away and you begin to erode the moral fiber.*

6) Continue with the erosion of the American moral fiber by devaluing human life.*

7) Establish a faith-base that we must abide by. I would suggest using bogus science. Science is something most people trust, so if you claim it to be factually true, you will not have to defend your facts. And when someone asks you defend your facts. You discredit them with blasphemy.*

8) Create division between the American people. Unfortunately using Race, Gender, Color or Creed, would be too easily seen through. I suggest using economic stature. This has proven effective in the past.*

9) Control the money. If it is money that makes the world go around, then it is important to control the money. I suggest setting up rules that those controlling the money must, but in the end can't, follow. And then as retribution for not following the rules sweep-in and absorb the control.*

10) Start passing laws that contradict the founding fathers version of the Constitution. Dissolving the electoral process, Presidential term limits. Grant unauthorized powers to the federal government, to the President.*

I hope the President reads this and takes my help seriously. I truly do not want MY PRESIDENT to fail.

*Note for those that noticed, some of my list were marked. These are pieces of my list our President has already began to work on. I just wanted to make note of those that he has already acted on. Imagine, He has done this in less then 2 months. He is well on his way to achieving his goal.

Watchmen

I went to see Watchmen on Friday. It was incredible, but I left the theater trying to figure out if it was too long, or not long enough.

First at 2 hours and 45 minutes, one could hardly say it was not long enough. but i felt the ending was rushed. like they had all this great backstory entwined into the movie and then, "oh by the way, here is the end to the story we started." However, I really don't think you could have made the movie any shorter and still been able to keep those that have never read the graphic novel entertained.

So my conclusion is, Watchmen should have been a mini-series rather than a movie.

There are Intelligent Law Students

Thanks to Neal Boortz.

Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, Marxists and Obama supporters,

We've stuck together since the late 1950s, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know that we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly this relationship has run its course. Our two ideological sides of America cannot and just will not ever agree on what's right. So let's just end it right now while we can do it on friendly terms. We can smile, shake hands, chalk it up to irreconcilable differences and each go our own way.

So here's a model separation agreement.

Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by land mass, each taking a portion. That's going to be the difficult part, but I'm sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that, it should be relatively easy. Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate taste. We don't like redistributive taxes so you can have those. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU. And since you hate guns and you hate war, we'll take the firearms, the cops, the NRA and the military. You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnell. But you are going to be responsible for finding a biodiesel vehicle big enough to haul them around.

We'll keep the capitalism, the greedy corporations, the pharmaceutical companies; we will keep Wal-Mart and Wall Street. You can have the homeless, the homeboys, the hippies and illegal aliens. We will keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, the greedy CEOS and all of the rednecks. We'll keep the Bibles and we'll let you have NBC and Hollywood.

You can be nice to Iran and Palestine and we'll retain the right to invade and hammer anybody that threatens us. You can have the peaceniks and the war protesters. When our allies or our way of life are under assault, we will provide them with security. You won't have to worry about it. We will keep our Judeo-Christian values. You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism and Shirley Maclaine. You can also have the UN, but we will no longer pay the bill.

We will keep the SUVs, the pickup trucks and the oversize luxury cars. You can have the compacts, the subcompacts and every Subaru station wagon you can find. You can give everybody healthcare, if you can find any practicing doctors. We will continue to believe that healthcare is a privilege and not a right. We will keep "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" and the national anthem, and I am sure you will be happy to substitute in their place "Imagine." I'd like to teach the world to sing "Kumbaya" or "We are the world." We will practice trickle-down economics and you can give trickle-up poverty your best shot. And since it so offends you, we will keep our history, our name and our flag.

Would you agree to this? If so, please pass it along other like-minded liberal and conservative patriots. And if you do not agree, just hit delete. In the friendly spirit of parting, I'll bet you ANWAR which one of us will need whose help in about 15 years.

Sincerely,

John J Wall

Old Adages

Thomas Sowell takes a look at a couple of old adages.

Is Talk Cheap? - Thomas Sowell

Now I haven't had much to say here lately about what is going on. I felt it is was best to hold judgment for a bit. My intentions were to see what Obama and the his Minions in congress would do with the first 100 days of his administration. Unfortunately I could not hold out that long.

I recently read an article in the Star Tribune(consistently one of the most liberally biased papers in the nation) They showed a chart with the budget deficits over the past six presidency, remarking that under Clinton we had the only surplus and under Obama we will have the greatest deficit. The two things that surprised me in this article. First although they pointed out the greatest deficit will be under Obama they didn't seem to think this was any serious problem. Second, the article failed to completely recognize that Newt Gingrich, the Republic lead congress, and the 'Contract for America' had any part in those surpluses.

The recent activity in Washington, D.C. is exactly what I warned anyone who would listen about. Giving all the power to one political party(especially to those that believe in party over country) is a huge mistake. I will stand behind this statement, no matter what the party.

If you look at just the recent history. Say the last six Presidencies, You will notice our best economic growth and most stable federal government have come when there has been a balance of power between the parties. Reagan with a democratic led congress dug us out of the horendous fiasco the former administration had left. Clinton with the Republican led congress manage to balance the federal budget for the first time in 120 years.

Personally, I would love to see members of congress to forgo their party lines and start to look at how their actions effect all of America. What is good for New York, is not always good for North Dakota, and the same holds true the other way.

Necessity will breed innovation. If the government would stop, providing everything we supposedly want. I assure you, we as a people(All makes, kinds, colors and creeds) would figure out a way to provide it for ourselves.

I can not freely admit, the stock from which we came has been diluted beyond recognition. I believe completely, that the independent spirit still resides in all of us. The spirit that would push us not to just survive but to strive for more, and better lives for our future generations. This spirit is what brought most of us to America, a chance at freedom. It is the same spirit that brings many more to our great country. Let that spirit free, let it be what it wants to be, Innovative, Inventive, Ingenious. Do not cast out that spirit as an unneeded entity. Do not disregard that spirit as an old time philosophy. Let the spirit do what it came here to do, take care of itself and the ones it loves(Family, Friends and Neighbors).
